August 08, 2026 | SWIANDA Maternity welcomes its first official employee
And another wonderful milestone! Swianda Maternity has welcomed its first official employee, Sunday Oweka.
Sunday has taken up his position as Land & Grounds Steward and will be responsible for the care of the trees and plants, as well as the upkeep of the entire plot.
August 07, 2026 | We are now registered as a Community Based Organization
Today is a great day, and we are delighted to announce that we have received our registration as a CBO (Community Based Organization) from the local authorities.
This means we are now officially a registered association in Uganda, authorized to award contracts, make purchases, hire staff, and offer services.
July 17, 2026 | Demarcation of the building site
The building plot was bordered with tree saplings.
This is intended to provide a natural boundary and improve the soil's water absorption capacity, thus counteracting potential flooding.

This brings us significantly closer to our goal and allows us to further advance our projects.

April 17, 2026 | Signing of the deed transferring the land
Signing of the Land Transfer Deed: The deed transferring 2 hectares of land has been signed.
The family head, Robinson Uma, his wife, Florence Uma Adong, and their sons, Jacob Ojok, Raymond Odong, and Sunday Oweka, ceremoniously signed the deed.
This makes it official: The Swianda Maternity Association now owns 2 hectares of land. A major first step has been taken to provide safer childbirth for expectant mothers in this region.
April 8, 2026 | Site visit and selection of the 2 hectares
Together with the village elders and those responsible, a site visit is conducted, and a decision is then made regarding which two hectares should be used for construction.
Decision criteria included proximity to the road and the village well. Furthermore, the location had to be safe from flooding, which is particularly common during the rainy season.
April 7, 2026 | The SWIANDA Maternity association is officially founded.
The signing of the statutes and the founding protocol will take place in Purongo, Uganda.
April 6, 2026 | Presentation of the SWIANDA Maternity project
Our project was officially presented to the local community.
Representatives from the village council, the village elder, as well as from the church and local government were present. The enthusiasm and gratitude were overwhelming.
The event was followed by a celebration with dancing, singing, and food.
